Encase of EmergencySometime in 2003 I created a rather simple and amusing concept featuring a fire hydrant bobbing in the ocean as a gesture to irony. That fond and long lost idea recently made its way back into psyche and so, I had reason enough to revisit the idea and give it a new life (and added irony). In this instance, the hydrant is not only adrift in deep water everywhere from shore, but on fire. The double-entendre being that an instrument of water is floating in the product of its own purpose without the ability to put itself out. Enter the little girl looking to pull the alarm switch as a matter of alerting the fire department to the trouble. One can only imagine the looks on their faces when they arrive.
