The Enigma Machine

Back in the day, I made a habit of releasing versions of my portfolio website that were based on certain themes (e.g., genetics). One such iteration was christened “The Enigma Machine” which featured a steampunk aesthetic along with some characteristically curious imagery. I always liked the term and wanted to resurrect, embody, and reserve going forward by way of the accompanying illustration. We thus find ourselves greeted by a jaunty (if slightly “off”) proprietor after stepping on the lot of his workshop. In distance, one of his prized devices sits idling, awaiting purchase by those looking to harness its power and potential for whatever purpose. Time travel? Immortality? Magic? It’s anyone’s guess. Regardless of conjecture, one does get the distinct impression that the utility of the contraption derives from the needs, motives, and desires of its heir. What might you do with such a mechanism?
